The Swedish Energy Agency blocks out sunlight and avoids the need for cooling

The Energy Agency has installed facade glass from Chromogenics in the entrance to the office premises on Väster in Eskilstuna. Thanks to this, they avoid solar radiation and thus also the need for energy-consuming cooling. Here you can read more about Chromogenics.

The Munktella arena is being equipped with an energy focus

Within the scope of the project UPMEF a number of municipal properties in Eskilstuna have been equipped with the main aim of saving energy but with a clear focus on the whole, where soft parameters such as well-being, well-being, safety and security were also included in the work. The initiative aims to contribute to the fulfillment of Eskilstuna's climate goals, but also to raise the standard of the indoor climate and thereby achieve satisfied and well-being of staff, users and customers.

One of the properties within UPMEF located in the West is the Munktellarenan, and the following improvements have been made there,

  • The heating systems have been regulated, so that all spaces get the right temperature
  • New ventilation units have been installed
  • The ventilation has been regulated to obtain the correct air flows
  • In the connecting corridor, electric radiators were replaced with water-based ones to reduce electricity use
  • Entrance locks are rebuilt to minimize cold drafts
  • Windows and window sections have been replaced, and in some parts of the arena, windows have been rebuilt on the inside with insulation and cover sheets to minimize energy loss
  • Remaining existing windows are renovated on the outside
  • The property's control system, which optimizes energy use while maintaining a good indoor climate and reads indoor temperature (heating and fan), was replaced
  • Older energy-consuming pumps in heating systems were replaced with new energy-saving pumps
  • The house was drawn up with updated A drawings as the house looks today

UPMEF, modernization project with an energy focus!

Within the framework of the UPMEF project, a number of municipal properties in Eskilstuna have been equipped with the main aim of saving energy but with a clear focus on the whole, where soft parameters such as well-being, well-being, safety and security were also included in the work. The initiative aims to contribute to the fulfillment of Eskilstuna's climate goals, but also to raise the standard of the indoor climate and thereby achieve satisfied and well-being of staff, users and customers.

UPMEF 1 ran from 2016-2019 with an estimated energy saving of at least 3,368,100 kwh/year, which corresponds to the annual energy consumption of around 134 average villas and estimated cost savings thanks to the project of at least SEK 2,300,000 per year.

Now K-fast has started UPMEF 2 where a further number of municipal properties are to be equipped and energy efficient. The properties in Väster that have been upgraded or are planned to be upgraded within the framework of UPMEF are:
